Mountain Maths

Yesterday I started my Auckland Volcano Maths. I finished it this morning. I made these mountains from Battle of the Mountains by Peter Gossage. Have you read that book? It was really fun making the mountains. And some of the maths was tricky but fun too. Hope you like it! Here are some pictures:

  2. Hi Tulsi, I love the way you have coloured your mountains, it is obvious you have taken great care with the painting. I hope you had fun making up the maths problems....I imagine your family will have fun working them out!

  3. Ka pai Tulsi. What an amazing blog post. I like the way you shared the questions, showed your workings AND showed your creative side with your volcano models. Maybe you could share instructions or a tutorial about how you made your volcanoes? I'd love to have a go. I haven't read the book but I have seen the movie version by Wesley Primary. Have you seen that?

    1. Kia Ora Phil,
I haven't seen the movie by Wesley Primary but it sounds cool. The pictures are on the back of the book so I just photocopied them. After that I painted them with watercolours and made them green like the grass and trees on the mountains.

  4. Kia ora Tulsi, I can see you have put a lot of effort into your learning - ka mau te wehi! (Fantastic!) I have read Battle of the Mountains by Peter Gossage - it is an excellent book. I wonder if we have a copy of this in our school library? (Something I should check out when we are back at school.) I'm sure you are learning a lot about volcanoes. What has been the most interesting facts you have learnt so far?

  5. Kia ora Tulsi, Auckland Volcano Maths looks like such a fun way to practise your maths calculations. I do know the legend however have not read this book. Will look out for it when I am back at school. I have climbed all of the Maunga in your photo. Maungakiekie the most as I can see it from my house and Rangitoto once. The lava field and lave tubes on Rangitoto are really interesting.
    Thanks for sharing,
    Mrs Grant from Manaiakalani.
