Fake news

Today I have been making some fake media. This is what I did.

The hard parts were finding the background and getting the picture of me right. The easy parts were getting the fish and removing their background. I used remove.bg to remove the backgrounds and I also used explore to get the images. Have you ever used remove.bg before?

Piskel animations!!!

I have been making piskel animations! It has been a lot of fun. The bottom is a volcano inspired by our volcano work we did last term. The top is a girl with some apples. For that one me and my friends spun a wheel online two times and I got person and apple. Have you done piskel before and if you have did you like it?

Who wants to go to the pools?

 Today I am doing a review about Mount Albert pools.

The Mount Albert pools is a great year round place to go with your friends or family to swim and have fun. There is so much to do there you will love it and if you are lucky your parents might even buy you some hot chips at the end!

The best things about the Mount Albert pools are all the different things there are to do and it is great exercise. There is a hydro-slide, as well as the main pool which has a wave that goes on the half hour, there is a part we call the roundy-round that pushes you along. There is also a length pool where you can practise swimming and spas to soak in which are very relaxing. If you have young kids there is also a warm toddlers pool. The Mt Albert Pools is also a great place to have a birthday party. If you do not want to travel to far from home then the Mount Albert pools is in our neighbourhood and is also cheap. My dad says it is cheaper than having a pool of our own! The Mount Albert pools is indoor so it is great in any weather, funnily enough it is refreshing in summer and a great place to go in the winter. My dad also loves the saunas, but they are only for people over 18.

The bad parts about the Mount Albert pools is that it can get really busy in the summer on the weekends or in the holidays. When that happens the lines for the hydro-slide are enormous and there are heaps of people in the lanes if you are trying to swim. Sometimes in the summer they do not even let you in because there are so many people!

Last summer we went to Point Erin pools. That was cool too but it was further from our house. And it is really only awesome there on a beautiful sunny day, it is outside so you definitely can't go there in winter. 

I love going to the Mt Albert pools and if you haven't been there I think you will love it too. It is a great place to go with your friends and family and you also get to exercise while you have fun. Time passes so quickly that in our family our parents have to make us leave! 😀

Kōwhai Yellow

 A while ago I found some Kōwhai seeds on the way home from school.

On the 29th of August I found this awesome YouTube clip on how to germinate them. It was quite a bit of work. You have to get them out of the pod. Then either scour them with sandpaper or clip the ends of with a nail clipper. Then you have to soak them in a bowl of water overnight. The ones that float aren’t ready to be sowed so you pull out the ones at the bottom. Most of them will be at the bottom.

We then planted the seed and left them in a sunny window sill at home, making sure we give them some water.

Three weeks after we planted them the sprouted up. So far we have 11! According to the you tube guy we should re pot them in a few months. Have ever planted anything from seeds that you found?

Save our oceans!

Hi guys. Yesterday I went down to just before the white bridge and what I saw was devastating! Last week Oakley Creek flooded and I nearly got stuck on the other side of the bridge! When I went back down yesterday I found disgusting amounts of rubbish. There were chip packets, lolly wrappers and even polystyrene! Luckily me, my brother and my Mum picked it up. But sadly we only had three bags. We got most of it but as we were walking home we kept noticing more and more. If you guys could go down there with at least one bag it would make a real difference! Here are some pictures!

The other night I made dinner! I made Greek Pita bread, Green Curry and Apple Crumble. I got it from the garden to table site which you can go to here. I really enjoyed making dinner. Here is a picture and a link to my slides below it.

Yesterday I took part in the Māori Language Moment 2021. 

More than 1 million people joined in at midday yesterday to speak, sing, listen or play in Te Reo Māori. I  joined in and said our school pepeha at 12 o'clock.

The other cool things that have happened in Te Wiki o Te Reo Māori is that heaps of New Zealand bands and artists have release their songs in Te Reo. This is one of my favourites:

I also like the new song from Six60 called Pepeha. I am going to try and create and learn my own Pepeha this week.

Hogwarts/Jurassic Park Lego

Bubbling Fudge

 Hi! Yesterday I made Russian fudge from the recipe on our blog. It was so fun and after it tasted so good! Do you like Russian fudge? Here are some pictures of me making it.

Here I am still stirring but it is bubbling more. You have to let it bubble for 10 - 15 minutes otherwise it will not set properly.

Mountain Maths

Yesterday I started my Auckland Volcano Maths. I finished it this morning. I made these mountains from Battle of the Mountains by Peter Gossage. Have you read that book? It was really fun making the mountains. And some of the maths was tricky but fun too. Hope you like it! Here are some pictures:

Lava at my house

Hi! Today I attempted to create my own lava lamp. It kind of worked but it also kind of failed. What I mean is that you have to turn it upside down and then upright again for the bubbles to rise. I learnt how to do it off my class blog. My mum and my dad both said they used to have lava lamps and they worked with a light heating the liquid to make the lava move up and down. Have you ever made a lava lamp? Here are some pictures of it.

Sudoku Mania!

!!Fun in the Holidays!!😜

Hi guys sorry this post is a bit late,

 In the holidays I went Skiing! I was skiing on Tuesday in the second week and a little bit of Wednesday. I went on the Rangatira/Rock garden and the Sky Waka. The Rangatira is a four seater chairlift which I went on with my mum, brother and his friend Eliot. After some of those I went on it with my mum and my friend Georgia, as well as a random person. Finally I went on it with Georgia, her Dad (Antony) and a random person. We did it about 10 or 11 times in total and somewhere in the middle we went up the Sky Waka for lunch. After all of our skiing we went back to the ski club and I had a shower. My brother, Georgia and Eliot stayed outside for a long time and built a snowman. 

On Wednesday it was very foggy so we only did two runs,  although we still went up the Sky Waka and had a hot chocolate! When we came back we had a shower and played ping pong. After a while we left to come back. It was a bit annoying because my friend Danica came on Wednesday afternoon and I left then! She also stayed Thursday. 

The week before I went swimming which is kind of weird since I also went skiing. Anyway we stayed at our batch and that was fun! Here are some photos:

Hi Guys,

On Saturday I got up at around 4:30 - 4:50. The reason was because we were going up the mountain. It was really fun we just had breakfast and went. We left in between 5:00 and 5:30. We arrived at 9:40. It was so fun. When we got there they were having Mid Winter Christmas. It was Christmas day. We had a good day skiing except for the end when ice was blowing in our face. 

That night we had a snowman making competition. Sadly me and my friends did not win. It was still really fun though and we watched the All Blacks.

The next day was really fun and so clear. We went up the Delta chairlift. Here is a picture of what we could see:

🐺Awesome 100 word story!!!!!!!🐺

Hi guys,

Yesterday I created a 💯word story. The reason me and my class did this was to work on editing. What was quite a challenge was to create a 💯 word story and not one word more. Even though it was hard it was still fun and I really liked the way the story turned out. It was kind of easy thinking about what to do it about. Anyway here it is:

I was walking in the snowy forest by myself since I had no friends and wanted a walk when suddenly I stumbled and fell into a cave! I got up but my leg really hurt. I could walk but it was hard. When suddenly I heard a growling noise. It was a wolf!!! I was terrified and didn’t know what would happen when it rubbed it’s head on my leg. It suddenly felt fine. I started walking with the wolf following and didn’t know how to get back so continued randomly. They went through a snowstorm and made it back.

Sunrise in Coding!

Hi guys, 

Here is a Sunrise I made on Khan Academy! I was really fun making and it took one or two sessions. I used quite a few variables to create it but I still loved it. I don't really know what my next steps are but I hope you liked it. Maybe you could try making something like it. The hardest part was making it stop at the top. !!Holidays!!

 I am so exited for the holidays! I love school but it is good to have a break and hang out with family once in a while.  I can't wait for the holidays this time though because we are going skiing! I love skiing. It is really fun and we are also going to our batch at Whangapoua which is in the Coromandel.

Production

 As you may know we are busy with the production. Our class is the first scene. I wanted to show you a few of the costumes we are making in our classroom! The people who made the tomayo costume are Me, Mackenzie and Diyani. The people who made the milk are my friends as well as Mackenzie and Diyani, Jasmine, Danica and Bhargavi. Pink Shirt Day

Today Sheryl came into our class room and she read us a book called Kind. She read it to the class two times and the second time the class wrote down the main points of the book. The first time they listened to the book. Since me and Bhargavi were at maths group we had to read it by ourselves and then Sheryl read it to us and we wrote down the main points. I had nineteen but here is three:

Big Little Ideas

So my mum and dad were watching the project one night and there was this competition on TV called Big Little Ideas and she thought it would be cool to enter. So me and my brother entered. We already had some stools that we wanted to be in a business so we thought it would be good. We came in the three finalists and were on TV. It was really cool but sadly one of the other finalists won. She won $1500 worth of tech and $1000 for anything. The other two finalists (including the one that won) were girls and were doing it by themselves. The prize me and my brother won as well as the other finalist was $500 but my brother and me have to split the money.It was really cool being on TV.
